From romance to comedy, from action to horror, from dance to spirituality, from mushy rom-coms to biopics, Bollywood has it all. All these years, among this huge range of movies, there have been a few which has pushed it's characters to the edge of the road and demanded an unconventional and outstanding performance. Here are a list of actors who have taken acting to a new level by playing certain characters on screen
1 Shah Rukh Khan
Undoubtedly one of the best ever specimens of flawless acting, Shah Rukh Khan deserves a lot of credit for his performance in My Name is Khan. In this movie, he played the role of a man named Rizwan Khan, a very different Muslim man with a quest to meet the President of the USA and convey to him the message that although he is a Muslim, he is not a terrorist. He suffers from Asperger's syndrome, a condition in which his interests are fixed on few things and he takes spoken words very seriously. No wonder he goes all the way and fulfills what his wife tells him to.
2 Hrithik Roshan
One of the greatest pieces of acting, Hrithik Roshan was heavily appreciated after his performance in Koi Mil Gaya.In this movie, he plays the role of a mentally disabled boy who becomes friends with an alien, popularly known as , "Jadoo". The way he carries the typical, " schoolboy" look and attitude is just mind blowing. His expressions too, were equally superb. No wonder the movie fetched a log of money and audience.
3 Aamir Khan
Mr. Perfectionist pulls of a stunning performance in this Rajkumar Hirani movie. He is a man from some other planet and he had just come to the earth for such research on human beings, and when he lands in India, his remote control gets stolen and thus begins his quest for his remote as well as for God. He ends up asking crazy questions and dresses in crazy attires and wins our hearts.Surely the, "Ye wraang number hai!" guy pulls of a stunning performance in this movie.
4 Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee
A movie mainly inspired by Hellen Keller's life, both the protagonists-Rani Mukherjee as well as Amitabh Bachchan does a fairly good job.Rani Mukherjee, gets blind and deaf at the age of two after recovering from a disease and thus for her,the world is nothing but black. This black world frustrates her and she starts to show erratic behavior when Amitabh Bachchan,an elderly alcoholic teacher is appointed to look after her.Although he is successful in teaching her some manners,he himself develops Alzheimer's disease and fails to recognize Rani and even speak in the end.A beautiful performance by two of the greatest actors in the industry.
5 Amitabh Bachchan
Not many can forget the Paa dance that was a striking feature of the movie. In this movie, Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of a 12- year old boy with a rare genetic disorder known as progeria, in which he would mentally be of his own age but physically, his age would be 5 times more. Amitabh Bachchan, although is an old man, but never shies away from a opportunity to return back to his childhood days and this is, very beautifully displayed in this movie. Sadly, he meets his end by the end of the movie and leaves an indelible mark in the minds of the audience. Surely we won't forget you, Young Auro!
6 Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra
It is almost a sin to forget to mention this movie in a list where actors who played special roles are being discussed. Just like Black, this movie too boasts of, not one but two actors playing outstanding roles. Ranbir Kapoor plays the role of a deaf and dumb boy and Priyanka Chopra plays the role of a young autistic girl. A beautiful example of acting, both these actors did a really good job. Priyanka Chopra defied normalcy as she played an autistic girl and never really looked uncomfortable with it. Ranbir Kapoor, unable to speak or listen, absolutely nailed it with his expressions. One of the best movies in the industry.
7 Aamir Khan
Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist appears again on the list and this time, not as an alien but as a resident of Mother Earth! In this movie, he plays the role of a really angry person who is affected with short-term-memory-loss and can only remember something for not more than 15 minutes. Under such circumstances, he decides to avenge his lover's murder by a man named Ghaijini and is successful in doing so. In fact, in one of the scenes while fighting with his enemy Ghajini, he forgets who Ghajini is and is attacked by the same. However he manages to kill him at the end and fulfill his revenge. A beautiful piece of acting by one of the most versatile actors in the industry.
8 Kalki Koechlin
In this movie, Kalki Koechlin plays the role of a girl with celebral palsy as she struggles with life. She falls in love with her fellow band member and after getting rejected by him, she moves on to the US and there she falls in love with her professor, and as well with her classmate who is a girl. Later, she discovers that she is bisexual. In the end, she realises she does not need anyone to love or care for her and ends up dating herself. Kalki did a really good job in the movie and this one has to be one of her best performances in the acting career which she has.
